The rotary drum dryer is primarily designed for drying raw materials, semi-finished and finished products. It can also be used for drying recyclables and household solid waste, particularly moist cardboard containers. Modern drum dryers for bulk goods are versatile in their operation and suitable for handling a wide range of substances. In practice, sawdust and pellets are most commonly dried.

Structurally, the sawdust rotary dryer consists of a stator and a rotor. The static part is the housing, and no stands or additional structures are required to install the equipment.

A gear motor connected to a chain drive rotates the drum cylinder inside the frame. Bearings minimise friction. Screw conveyors are used for loading and unloading operations.
